Questions and Answers
- What lamping options does A-19 offer? faq id: 3
We offer standard incandescent and energy-efficient fluorescent lighting options. Our standard lighting fixtures are supplied with medium-base sockets. They accept standard incandescent bulbs and, for areas that require more light, most accept medium-base, double-envelope halogen lamps. For energy efficiency, we offer high-power factor, electro-magnetic ballasts and sockets to accept compact fluorescent lamps.
- When do I need to order wet-location fixtures? faq id: 4
Our standard damp-location lighting fixtures are appropriate for indoor and outdoor locations protected by an overhang or roof. Whenever there is a possibility that water, such as rain, may fall directly on top of or into the light fixture, specify our "WET" option when you order. Open Wet-location lighting fixtures (with up-and-down light and/or perforations) are wired with a single outdoor par socket. We recommend lamping with a shatter resistant "Tuff Skin" bulb. Most "downlights" are suitable for wet locations with the standard lamping because the fixture itself shelters the socket and bulb. All lighting fixtures are UL-listed for damp locations unless otherwise specified. (See Outdoor/WET lamping options.)
- What are diffusers? faq id: 6
Normally, sconces are mounted above eye level so that the bulb and socket are not visible; however, in the instance that you may see down into your light fixture, you may want to order a sconce with a diffuser. Diffusers are frosted lenses attached to the top of the fixture to conceal the view of the bulb. Diffusers are for cosmetic purposes; they do not protect the fixture from water. Diffusers are not sold separately.
- Are the finishes suitable for outdoor lighting fixtures? faq id: 15
Yes, all of our finishes are extremely durable and are suitable for outdoor use.
- Are diffusers sold separately? faq id: 17
No. Diffusers are only available on select styles and must be special ordered with the fixture. Diffusers are not available separately and cannot be added later.
- Can wall sconces be mounted in the opposite direction from that shown? faq id: 20
Yes, most fixtures may be mounted in any direction. Lighting fixtures ordered for Wet Location will be labeled for the appropriate orientation. Many wall sconces are shown as "downlights" specifically for use in outdoor wet locations.
- Can I get a fixture in another size? faq id: 23
We offer many styles in multiple sizes. We can make almost anything you can imagine, but making a fixture slightly larger is more difficult than most people realize. If you have a project requiring large quantities, the cost associated with creating a new master may be offset. Please consult the factory for an accurate estimate of the work required.
